Daphne Press has acquired a thrilling and incredibly sexy new dark romantasy series from Sunday Times bestselling author Elizabeth May.

Managing Director Daphne Tonge has acquired UK & Commonwealth rights for The Wolf and the Crown of Blood, the first in a trilogy of standalones, with Head of Zeus publishing in the US for release in January 2026.

Inspired by Beauty and the Beast and Eros and Psyche, this dark, seductive tale is perfect for fans of Raven Kennedy’s Plated Prisoner series, with the wit and spice of Callie Hart’s Quicksilver. Packed with dark fairytale vibes, gothic romance, and tropes like enemies to lovers, forced proximity, death pacts, and villain-gets-the-girl, this is a story where love is as deadly as it is irresistible. In this first installment, a princess who offers blood sacrifices to uphold the fragile accords between demigods and mortals falls for the Wolf, an immortal assassin sent to kill her.

Tonge says, “Elizabeth is an incredible writer both in the fantasy and romance spaces, and I’m thrilled to publish this work that is sure to be enjoyed by fans of both genres alike. Deeply captivating and sexy, I can’t wait for everyone to be obsessed with Bryony and Evander’s story.”

May adds, “I’m thrilled to continue collaborating with the brilliant Daphne Press team on the Broken Accords series. These books are about gods and humans, what happens when they clash, and when they fall in love. I’m so excited to share these dark (and spicy!) romances with readers!”
