Managing Director Daphne Tonge has acquired UK & Commonwealth rights for Cassandra Clare’s Secrets of Blackthorn Hall and the novella A Sea Change, both ready to release in Spring 2026.

Heather Baror-Shapiro of Baror International negotiated the deal in conjunction with Joanna Volpe and Suzie Townsend of New Leaf Literary & Media. Daphne Press plans to release the books in trade hardback editions with stunning covers from Jane Tibbetts.

Both of these Shadowhunters stories are part of Clare’s highly successful Seasons of Shadowhunters campaign on Kickstarter. Secrets of Blackthorn Hall is an illustrated epistolary novel with art by Cassandra Jean, exploring the hidden history of beloved characters through discovered letters, journal entries, and more. A Sea Change is a novella following fan-favourite Matthew Fairchild on a murder mystery aboard an ocean liner set for Constantinople, expanding on Matthew’s fate after the events of the bestselling The Last Hours trilogy.

Tonge says, “I have long admired Cassandra, and her successful Seasons of Shadowhunters campaign is a testament to the amazing fanbase she’s built. These unique books in the Shadowhunters canon are the perfect read before The Wicked Powers releases in 2026, and I’m thrilled to make these stories available to a wider audience.”

Clare adds, “I am so excited to partner with Daphne Press to bring trade editions of these works to the world! Secrets of Blackthorn Hall started as a free project on my social media and it's a delight to see it get the Daphne Press treatment. I know their production of it and of the novella A Sea Change will be beautiful."

Heather Baror-Shapiro, Cassandra’s agent, says, “We are thrilled to be able to bring these stories, in a new and exciting format, widely to UK readers.”
